Yoga Fix 30 - Day 21 - Gentle Yoga and Meditation

Meditation is good...

"For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards for there you have been and there you will long to return."
-Leonardo Da Vinci

I read that Leonardo Da Vinci used to use a technique to tap into his creativity that involved a type of meditaion. He used the power of concentrating on a single point to allow his imagination and creativity to flourish. He would stare up at the clouds, gaze at the wall or at the bark of a tree looking for patterns or images that would stimulate his mind.

Our class today is a Loving Kindness or Metta Meditation. It's one of my favorite meditation techniques because it helps me to feel connected and loving toward everyone!  It reminds me that we are truly all connected.

Practice today's affirmation  at least 10 times to help build even more connection:
"Forgiveness. Understanding. Compassion. I bend and flow with ease and all is well."

Additional "homework:" One pointed-focus (Dharana). Find a wall and notice the texture looking for patterns. Or if it isn't too cold and you can head outside, look up at the clouds. Relax, breathe and stare at something...gazing at a candle is another great way to practice this meditation technique.

Love,
Lesley

PS I'm finally hosting my own signature yoga teacher training and I couldn't be more excited about it! Join me in my home town...I'd love to show you around and we'll practice at the beautiful ocean shala overlooking the beach. It doesn't get much better than that! :-) Get details here.
